If you’re anything like me, you may find collective responsibility a more effective tool to inspire change, a deeping committment to better habits and greater resolve, rather than going it alone. The purpose of this book club is to build together, be together, learn together, and ultimately sharpen our collective analysis through consistent interactions with great literary works.
Our initial read is Richard Wright’s ‘Native Son.’ I’ve taken the liberty to secure both PDF and EPUB versions for those that don’t have a physical copy. I also highly recommend visiting your local library and borrowing one if there’s one available, as consistent interactions with social programs help preserve and extend their impact. If you have any local bookstores you appreciate, this may be a good opportunity to give them some more business today as well.
We’ll meet every other week with our initial meeting being Thursday, May 1st, 2025. This meeting will be held digitally over zoom, with plans being made to meet physically for the following meeting. For those not in Chicago, we’ll keep the zoom rolling during physical meetups so that we can contnuously stay engaged with each other.
Updates will go out via email, and we’ll have a running comment section that can be accessed HERE to keep the discussion going in between meetings.
